FELTON > The Loch Lomond Reservoir loaded to capability and began spilling over between 4 and 6 a.m. on Wednesday because of the cold weather storm, in accordance with the Santa Cruz Water Department.

Loch Lomond Reservoir holds 2.8 billion gallons of liquid and spills at 577.3 legs level. This is the town of Santa Cruz’s only normal water reservoir and has now the capacity for about one year’s worth of drinking water for city residents.

Though much of the state consistently suffer with drought, Santa Cruz received normal rainfall in 2016 — which filled the reservoir and supplied respite from two successive many years of water rationing. Today in January 2016, the pond was at 558.7 feet height.

“Having the full reservoir is a good begin to the brand new 12 months, ” Water Director Rosemary Menard stated. “Though it’s too soon to tell how this liquid 12 months will undoubtedly be classified, whether it is a normal or wet year, our company is off to a promising start.”
